Here’s hoping this update finds you well during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Our prayers go out to those who have lost loved ones due to the pandemic. We wish healing and hope to those who are ill as well as to those who are dealing with the resulting financial strain. Our first member newsletter was written on March 1, 2020 - just before the virus exploded world-wide. The past nine months have been devoted keeping abreast of the facts, staying in touch with friends and family and following health and safety guidelines.
The Alaska Jewish Museum is still receiving visitors only in a limited way – by appointment only. We have on our website a COVID-19 reservation form you can fill out and submit online. You can also call the museum to arrange a visit over the phone at 907 538-4420.
Museum Curator Leslie Fried is still focused on writing grants for both payroll protection and COVID-19 mitigation expenses. We have also installed out new HVAC system and UV lights for a safer and healthier environment. We were also fortunate enough to have received a security grant and two grants that enable us to develop online programming.
We are happy to announce that we have four episodes of “Conversations with the Curator,” featured on this website. This is a series of talks with some of the people featured in our onsite museum exhibit Eight Alaskas Tell Their Stories.
Once again, the Alaska Jewish Museum is sponsoring a film at the Anchorage International Film Festival which this year is virtual and goes from December 4 – December 13, 2020. This year the film is Crescendo. You can read about it on thiswebsite and purchase ticket on the Festival’s website.
Finally, we here at the Museum hope to see you soon.
